About Which Side Is Best Recorded in Austin, TX, this recording features 4 original and previously unreleased songs. Initially to be released as 2 separate 7-inch, this EP features a split single design, with a unique cover and label on each side, each with its own unique musical flavor and presentation. Ruby Dee lays down some sweet vocal stylings on all tracks along with Jorge Harada on guitars, Rick Watson on electric and upright bass, and Michael Bahan on drums and percussion. Side A features “Which Side Is Best”, a Los Lobos-esque Kiko-era latin groover, and “I’m Gonna Win Someday” a barn-burnin’ blues rocker in the finest Austin tradition. Side B features 2 swingin’ New Orleans-style rhythm & blues numbers featuring pumpin’ piano man Earle Poole Ball (yes, THAT Earle Poole Ball who played with Johnny Cash), and a horn section featuring trombone by the most talented Andre Hayward, sax man Jim Trimmier, and David Lee on trumpet.
